eating own produce.

by mojacar @ Thursday, Jun. 04, 2009 - 21:55:27

I am really giddy, we have been eating our own lettuice and herbs for a while, but now we are eating our own peas and potato. Triumph!

I have grown for the first time a yellow podded pea, I am pleased with the, they all germinated, they are all growing, it has beautiful flowers, the peas look attractive and they taste fantastic. What more can you ask of a plant? I am growing some Mange Tout peas, that I saved the seed from last year. These are low growing, very white pretty flowers, the pea pods themsleves are a good size, shape and colour. Also good to eat. Have eatern both cooked and raw in salad. I buy my seeds from Realseeds, who have an interesting on line catalogue.

Hi Tom, you have not said for a few days, how are you doing with the allotment? I picked up a Allotment Handbook from the Charity shop, it is really good. I always do stuff with a book in the other hand.

It's not going as well as we wanted because we haven't been putting the time in. But, we hope to do better from now on.

Tom.

We grew some peas in the Spring, this year, that were so sweet. You could eat the pods as well. Trouble is, they gave me 'colliwobbles.' David has frozen quite a few now and puts them in his salad. I used to eat a lot of raw veggies. They are always best that way. Not any more alas!
So happy for your garden and the lovely produce. You have been most successful this year. Congratulations, Margie!
