The Iris were good this year.

It's pink

And so is this. But what is it please? It was given as a gift and I don't know what it's called.

Looks like it might be a mallow to me... but I'm not really a gardener so I could be talking nonsense!

Thanks. I'll look it up.

There's a pink marsh mallow that has flowers which look similar... but I have to say having looked myself, I'm not so sure now.

I'm with you on the 'Mallow' idea. Possibly, Hibiscus syriacus 'Pink Giant' if it's a big shrubby plant, up to 8x6 high and wide.

I really couldn't be that specific... but suppose I'll have to go and look it up now! :))

Why not? It's what I did.

Not sure what it is but they are very nice. :)

They are. I wouldn't worry too much about what it is, but the neighbours keep asking.

Is that a dogrose? It's lovely anyway, and so are the irises! My Helen did a painting of irises a while back that look remarkably like that picture.

Dogrose would have been my guess. But there are no thorns. Do they have them? As with Usksider's suggestion, I'll look it up.

Do you have a photo of Helen's Iris painting, I'd like to see it sometime?

She gave it away as a Christmas present, unfortunately...

Its odd. It looks like a rose but the leaf looks wrong. There arent enough of them. It could be a rock rose, the colour is right but the flower centre is wrong. But again the leaf is not right. The dog rose doesent have recurved petals and the flowers are usually scrappy with petals missing. One question. Is it thorny?
This could be a clematis, but it looks more like a dog rose than anything. If its thorny then it is one.
