help my bay tree is sick

by longtail @ Tuesday, Nov. 03, 2009 - 20:19:15

I have got a bay plant that is not very well. I have lost one last year. I do not like to think I will kill this one this winter. I have got it in the back shed and water it ever day but the leaves are going brown. Is it to cold in the shed? Can I give it in to the house My house is heater on a night time. Happy gardening.

We have a bay in pot out in the garden all the year round. I suggest that you repot into the next size up and put it in a shelted part of the garden in half sun and half shade. Ours was 10 inches high when it started 5 years ago and is now nearly 3 feet high and in great shape. Best of luck.

I will have a go at that. Would it be ok to repot at this time of the year? being in the north of england it is very cold on a night time that is why I get it in when the nights get colder. My lost bay I lose because of frost. thank you for your help.

I live in West Yorkshire, I have a bay tree in my front garden, it has been there for nearly two years. (I think it would have been 3 to 4 years old when I bought it.) it is looking very well. It coped o.k., with the frost last winter.

I am trying to make it grow as a standard tree, with a "ball" of leaves at the top, on a long stem. It is almost three foot high now.
